Why did the British change their economic and political policies towards the colonists from 1763 to 1775?
Q. Why did the British change their economic and political policies towards the colonists from 1763 to 1775? Were the colonists justified in their response to the British policies? What groups were the colonists defending/neglecting in their revolt against the British?

A. This is just a brief explanation there are specific examples that you can look up. The French and Indian War left Britain with a lot of debt, and since the war mainly took place in the United States, it was popular for the British to put the responsibility of taxes on the colonists. Prior to this point, the colonies were in a state of salutary neglect, meaning that the colonists were basically free to do what they wanted within reason and they also had control of their own purse (economy). The colonists really grew angry that they were being taxed without representation, which eventually grew into the moitivation for the revolutionary war as relations with Britain derioriated over the several years. I hope this helps.

What were the British planning to do that prompted Paul Revere to start his famous ride?
Q. Why were the colonists (British Citizens) worried when the British Army (which had been protecting them for years) decided to take a little stroll in the country?

A. I believe some of it was related to a British plan to seize colonial firearms. The British knew that if the colonists had their guns taken away, they couldn't rebel against the British government. This was one of the major reasons the 2nd amendment was added.
