Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the application of physical science (e.g. chemistry and physics), and life sciences (e.g. biology, microbiology and biochemistry) with mathematics, to the process of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. In addition to producing useful materials, modern chemical engineering is also concerned with pioneering valuable new materials and techniques - such as nanotechnology, fuel cells and biomedical engineering. Chemical engineering largely involves the design, improvement and maintenance of processes involving chemical or biological transformations for large-scale manufacture. Chemical engineers ensure the processes are operated safely, sustainably and economically. Chemical engineers in this branch are usually employed under the title of process engineer. A related term with a wider definition is chemical technology. A person employed in this field is called a chemical engineer. From Wikipedia under the

If you are that determined, it will be very rewarding. You will have to forget about the "fun" of college life that most of your friends will be "enjoying". That doesn't mean you can't have any fun, but you will have to learn to manage your time and life - and you will be ahead of the curve because you did it. Don't ever get behind in your homework or studies. That stuff must come first (except, perhaps a job to earn money to pay for college). If you get your priorities wrong, you will end up changing majors. Unless, of course, you are a freak of nature who passes every class without effort. it seems that every graduating class has… [cont.] Answered by bbullough - Tue Aug 18 23:33:55 2009 Does anyone know of any chemical engineering companies in Maryland? Q. I'm thinking about obtaining a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering after working for many years as a Chemist. How hard is it to get? How long will it take for me to obtain the Master's Degree? I'm based in LA and I'm looking to go to schools around here. Please give any advice if possible. Thanks! I'm looking to go into a UCI, or Cal-State Fullerton or Long Beach. Does anyone know how long does it take? I had a 2.6 GPA. I know it's not that great, but hoping that my work experience along with a decent GRE score will help? Some specialized "Chemical Engineering" degrees, such as NJIT's Master's in Pharmaceutical Engineering, may be a little more accommodating. If you can demonstrate mastery of undergraduate engineering by passing the EIT/FE exam, you may be assigned fewer bridging courses.
